About

“My name is Anna Rizzo-Tassone and I’ve been blessed with a musical life for as long as I can remember”

Coming from a musical family, I was told that I could sing before I could talk. Eager to entertain and always looking to learn, my mum quickly enrolled me in piano lessons at the age of 6 and dance classes at 7. Following in my talented sister’s singing footsteps, I dove onto the stage performing anywhere I could, this included singing and piano eisteddfod’s, competitions and talent quests. Appearances on iconic Australian TV programs like Young Talent Time, Have a Go and the The Bert Newton Show further fuelled my childhood desire to want to sing for the rest of my life!

I had the most wonderful teachers and mentors on my musical journey, and parents who instilled in me the importance of a well-rounded musical education. As such I completed all my AMEB (Australian Music Examination Board) classical piano, singing and theory exams very early on. Under the wonderful instruction of Sydney’s most renowned singing teacher Patricia Oretel who taught me for 20 years, I enjoyed learning and understanding about my voice and what it could do.

At the age of 21, possibly sensing that I had a flair for singing teaching, Patricia threw me in the deep end recommending me for a teaching job at Lombardo Music in Rockdale where I continued to teach for many years. My thirst for understanding more about the voices that I was coaching as well as my own led me to explore many vocal pedagogy, eventually landing on one that really suited my teaching style called Throga.

Throughout my teaching career I have continued to fill my weekends with singing gigs performing at a variety corporate and social events as the lead singer of a cover band La Collective. I’ve toured nationally and internationally as a solo artist and in my sister’s cabaret shows and have regularly provided vocals for DJ sets at some of Australia’s biggest nightclubs. Harmonies have always been my thing and it led me to various session singing opportunities including providing vocals on many commercials and film soundtracks.

As well as performing, I’ve always had a passion for song writing. Finding my writing niche in dance ‘house’ music, I penned 3 albums of original tracks with my band La Collectiv and released a solo EP with the club hit ‘Dancefloor’. I’ve featured on a number of popular Wild FM compilations with club hits ‘Lover that you are’ and ‘Fascinated’ and in 2012 was signed to the Ministry of Sound record label who featured my original tracks on three widely popular Hed Kandi compilations.

I continue to collaborate with Sydney DJ and songwriter Steve K and with a team of house music lovers run a small independent label called Chugg Records, where we regularly release original music on Spotify and Apple music.

I’ve always have a love for ensemble singing and I’ve been fortunate in my career to have been asked to teach two school choirs which I enjoy immensely. Currently I hold a position as the choir master of St Joan Of Arc Primary School in Haberfield and provide private piano and singing at the school.

I continue to teach at my private studio in Roselands and am super proud of the accomplishments of my past and present students. I never take for granted the trust they place in me with their talents and valuable instruments.

Singing has always made me happy and I haven’t taught a person yet who wouldn’t say the same!
